Equipment optimization: The real cost reduction

As seen of the Equipment Efficiency and Equipment Loss calculations and examples, there is much to gain in cost reduction by improving and optimizing the equipment performance.

Such improvement does not necessarily refer to known problems or excursions. It can as well be 'known-good' processes and machines that may still have significant potential for cost reduction by optimization. It can be shown that cutting process time by only a few seconds per wafer can save millions.

Based on many years of equipment monitoring, analysis and optimization, Tadin has the advantage of comprehensive experience: Process and equipment problems repeat themselves, and we have seen many of them throughout the years.

We at Tadin are eager to share our experience with our customers, thereby making a mutual profit: This is the ideal win-win business.

We will help you increase your profitability without paying a penny.  The Return-On-Investment will be clear and fast. You will pay us conditional to success, out of your savings only.

How we work (together)

  • A preliminary commercial agreement is signed between Tadin and the customer that defines, among other issues, the ways the anticipated cost reduction will be shared between the parties.

  • A process / Machine is selected. Can be a troublesome or a bottleneck machine or any 'known-good' machine with high cost-reduction potential.

  • A survey of the selected machine is conducted, listing possible areas of improvement.
The survey may include operation and maintenance specifications, history files and data, personal interviews, yield and scrap data, calibration data, parts and material usage, maintenance cost, overall COO, etc.

  • The machine (selected parameters) is monitored using Tadin's special tools or others.

  • Data-mining and analysis is regularly performed to identify discrepancies and correlation.
The machine long- and short time schemes are analyzed.
(Tadin has developed a series of specific analytical tools that can significantly enhance such analysis).

  • Based on the results of the analysis, Tadin proposes a working scheme to reduce cost. Such plan can be executed by the customer with Tadin's support, or as a joint project.
A project plan is outlined and mutual commitments are being taken.

  • The actual cost reduction project is commenced and carried on  to completion as planned.
If necessary, an on-going procedure for keeping the machine and the process at top performance is devised.

  • Tadin and the customer share the cost reduction. Everyone  wins.
